Time in a Jar

How much can you fit into a jar (or a day)

Air =Task

Things we need to and want to do.

Often, these are the things that we do not have plans for, but take up our time and effort. For example, spending an hour on social media or binge watching a full season of something, when we thought, I'm going to take 10 minutes or an hour and a half to unwind, and the next thing we know, we are lost. Sometimes this happens when friends and family show up with a request that we thought would take 10 minutes, or there was no time set, and the next thing we know, our entire day is taken up. Sometimes this could be a to-do list that we never get to or we get to when we get to it, but it's not our top priority

Water = Task + Time (how long will the task take)

Sometimes we can look at our to-do list and say, This task will take me 10 minutes, this task will take me 15. Once we start to narrow the length of time that each task is given, then we can start planning where these tasks will fit best in our day and how we can get them done more efficiently and effectively.

Sand = Task +Time + Deadline

Then we can take our to-do list and not only be able to say how long each task will take us, but also when they have to be done by, or what our time proposition is ( When will those tasks be the most Valuable) for those tasks. I can say how long tasks will take us and when we need to get them done by they start to be more solid.

 Gravel = Task + Repetitive + Time

These are repetitive tasks that we know need to get done and keep showing up on our to-do list over and over again. They and just as annoying as when they get in your sandals. Oftentimes, these things will build up until they become a project that you have to take care of ( dishes or laundry) or they pop up out of nowhere and you have to make time for them (Oil Changes for your car or getting gas). These tasks do not have a specific deadline by which you have to get them completed, but the longer you put them off, the more time they will take up and can turn into crisis mode, preventing you from doing anything you may have planned or want to do.

Pebble  = Task + Repetitive + Time + Deadline

We can turn our gravel into pebbles when we give them a deadline. When we do our dishes once a day or have a set day or time to do laundry, by taking control of when we do these repetitive tasks, then we can take better control of our time

Stone = Project= Task +Time + Deadline + Completion

Projects are specific things that add value to our lives. These things are individual tasks that bring joy and a sense of accomplishment. We all should have something that we're working on. Whether it is something we're learning or physically doing. Developing our individual growth is dependent on constant opportunities. Projects may take a long or short amount of time. For some of us, time is valuable and short. Project time is spent planning specific time with family or others. Another example is alone time to work on projects like building something with their hands fixing or fixing something for others.  Project time could be spent on planning their next vacation and seeing it come to fruition.

Combining 2 ( Stone, Pebbles, Gravel, Sand, and Water)

Boulder = Large things that take up your time and energy that you have no control over, such as an Illness Or an accident. Boulders can also be made by not taking care of your daily loads. If you do not keep your personal space clean, oftentimes cleaning your personal space will become a large and burdensome thing that needs to be accomplished or dealt with

Dayle Load = Air, Water, Sand, Pebbles, and Stone:

See the first boundaries book. Daily loads are those tasks that need to be accomplished regularly, or those things that are our responsibility

Gem = Byproduct of time and tasks well managed (memorable moments)

Cole = byproduct of time mismanaged

If time were money

We've heard the sentiment before. But really, can you picture it? So many times we make it to the to-do list with our time. Then we go down that list one by one, crossing each task off as we go. The o
